Originally, I was going to buy a new 32" LCD TV with some extra money I've had. I realized though, that I'd rather have a new telescope... I already have the big 10" Zhumell dob for deep space targets like nebulae, etc., but I want something more along the lines of a compact, "grab-n-go" scope for use on planets and such while away from home. Looking around, I found the Orion EON 72mm ED apochromatic refractor. I really like this scope, and I think I'm going to buy it! It'll balance out my collection real nicely, and allow me to get in more observing time that otherwise wouldn't be practical with the big dob. I may even go for the slightly larger 80mm version if I can work something out for a cheaper mount. Maybe I'll use the mount from my old Tasco... hmmm... It's real tempting.
I'll do a full first light report if I buy it! :)
Clear skies!
