Today marks the 54th anniversary of the founding of CERN, the creators of the Large Hadron Collider. Therefore, today's Picture of the Day is a simulation of an impact event at the LHC, which shows the theorized production of the Higgs Boson. (I just see some pretty lines!) We'll know soon enough whether their predictions are accurate!
